About Ecoversity
Ecoversity is an educational center devoted to training and education in skills and practices for sustainable living, while providing a demonstration site in sustainable living for the general public. Ecoversity is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
Ecoversity is the legacy of cultural anthropologist Frances (Fiz) H. Harwood (1941-2003), a student and intern of Dr. Margaret Mead. Dr. Harwood was an ecologist, philanthropist, visionary and Buddhist practitioner. She helped to found Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado, the first Buddhist University in the Western Hemisphere, as well as fostering and supporting numerous organizations devoted to charitable, educational, scientific and religious purposes throughout her adult life. Dr. Harwood was the inspiration for numerous activists in many fields of endeavor including peace work, inter-cultural understanding, indigenous wisdom, biodiversity and environmental preservation. Her good works continue to grow and reverberate throughout the world.
